CURTINXTP

Year:

2023-2024

This project was a collaborative effort between Curtin University Students from Australia and Temasek Polytechnic students. I worked in a group with 3 other Temasek students and 4 students from Australia with different specializations over the course of a few months. This project invites us to wonder if AI can amplify our creativity or will it be the other way around.

Our project is named Timeless Ripples where we explore Human Computer Interactions(HCI) and design a project to be exhibited in Singapore and Australia.

My Role:

It was a collective effort where i participated in the brainstorming and ideation of the idea from users needs to the exhibition. I used my experience in sketchup and space planning to build the 3D model of the exhibition for a clear representation of the idea.

TIMESLESS RIPPLES

Timeless Ripples is an immersive and abstract exhibit that aims to represent Elizabeth Quay in Australia. We take inspiration from the landmark's floor layout, ripples and iconic sculptures to make travel more accessible and immersive.

Our idea was to create an immersive dome experience where it would be a multi-sensory space with visuals on the walls, created using AI to produce a representation of the environment of Elizabeth Quay with interactive elements inside the dome. (Video done by another group member)

EXHIBITION IN TEMASEK POLYTECHNIC

For the exhibition, we showcased the holographic models in a box to give a snippet of the idea that we had came up with and took turns on shift and explained to visitors about what it is.

PROCESS

The process took over a few months where we held weekly meetings and communicated online and calls to discuss the project. We also made use of applications such as miro board and figma to organize our ideas for ideation and documentation. For the first step, we figured out our consumer profile and the needs and wants of them. We then discussed and eventually created a How might We statement to define a common problem and help us ideate for a solution.

HOW MIGHT WE CREATE AN ACCESSIBLE AND IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE ABOUT PLACES AND CULTURES THAT IS COST AND TRAVEL EFFICIENT BY PROVIDING MULTI SENSORY EXPERIENCES.

We then moved on to researching about cases and projects related to HCI and how they were used to build an environment. We researched articles and academic articles and presented to each other, noting down interesting ideas that we could use to learn from. There was a long research process before deciding on the scope and ideas that we wanted for this exhibition. We finally came up with several ideas and put a vote for the best one.
