Bib Necklace

I had to pick a brand to focus on and analyze their product assortment and branding to identify what is lacking and what I can add on to and justify the reasons why. The brand that I chose was Studio Gypsied and found that they lacked a variety of necklaces. I chose to produce a Bib Necklace for the brand with batik prints.


RATIONALE
I had to come up with 4 rationales on why the product would be suitable for the brand.

Local tapestry is forecasted to be in demand in the upcoming years. People have started to delve into cultural trends and appreciating them. In the upcoming years, more products will be made with traditional motifs with cultural contexts. Additionally, collabs with local artisan will be preferred to promote heritage and create responsible products through authentic storytelling. This necklace is made with batik prints that have a deeper meaning to it and will be made with upcycled materials sourced from sources that are sustainable.

According to the WGSN forecast, jewelry that are made from mix and matched accessories will be in trend. Unique pieces that are placed together to create a statement piece that is eye-catching will be popular among people. This necklace combines many embellishments and accessories together and mixed together.

According to WGSN's market analysis, statement jewelry is said to be on the rise in 2023. Accessories such as necklaces and bracelets will be more maximalist and bolder. This necklace will be crafted with batik prints, yarns and other embellishments and placed together to create a striking statement piece.

The brand's unique selling point is in their products. Compared to competitors like Yeomama Batik, their products are all made by the local communities that are specialised in these batik making. This makes their products authentic and more connected to the batik culture.

RESEARCH
Before we started on creating the products, I was grouped with 2 other teammates and we worked together to research on the brand such as its values and what products they had to offer. We also came up with a consumer tribe that frequents the brand to aid us in developing each of our products.

PRODUCT RANGE
We found that their colors can range from being earthy to colorful and many of their silhouettes a bit of a loose fit and more conservative. They make use of many batik prints that convey different meanings based on the color and pattern.

After researching, we each moved on to our individual parts and i started on my ideation process.
